"As a final effort prior to amputation, we used biodegradable temporizing matrix (BTM), (NovoSorb BTMTM, PolyNovoBiomaterials Pty Ltd, Port Melbourne, Victoria, Australia), a new skin substitute. Biodegradable temporizing matrix (BTM) resulted in sufficient granulation tissue over the exposed bone, tendon, and joint to support meshed, split-thickness skin grafts. Innovative methods and use of a new dermal substrate were able to save a limb that is now fully functional and without chronic pain."
