Banning naked short selling is a major step in the right direction. Listed companies will no longer be hostage to shorters. I have no problem with short selling provided it is backed up with physical shares. I also think it should be law to disclose to the owners of borrowed shares that their shares might be used to push prices down! I bet that would reduce normal short selling also. I have a fundamental problem with people being able to sell something they don't own. Governments have woken up to this now. Many of the collapses in recent weeks have been exacerbated by short selling.
