dny, when they use the "pub test" as the mark of validation... the pub being full of drunken people - would you trust drunk people to judge anything rightly?
Yes they do think the electorate is full of stupid people and acting on that judgement is how they get to win.
Morrison go in on the strength of "How Good Is..." lines and portraying himself as a "daggy dad" and a "blokey bloke"... no policy announcements other than vague mentions and a series of vicious attacks on the other Party. Relying on rusted on party backers to stay "loyal" and hoping to swing the "stupid"... and so he won (with a lot of help from Clive Palmer's anti-Lab advertising).
Shorten, the dolt, went out with a series of policies and sat there hoping that reason could win through - he evidently thought he could win the thoughtful vote - and was a sitting duck for the Morrison "strategy". He actually won on primary vote. But Morrison played the system extremely well.
Perhaps the national average swinging voter is stupid.
Scott.
