I get quite intrigued on how people on this forum regard what kind of financial gain or benefit they will derive from their precious metals investments. The general conversation usually ends up with it is worth blah blah in $US or my future is secure , which I have no problem with . Out of curiosity I was wondering how many of you good folk think out side of the box and have a real understanding of the value of your holdings at this very moment in time .
A little story that happened today when on my daily push bike ride ,( NO I don't wear lycra , wide bottom shorts are fine for ventilation ) , I passed a chap on his front lawn cleaning up his almost new Winnebago which had a big for sale sign . I stopped and started asking a few questions why and how much and he said seen enough and the wife misses the grand kids $120k neg which was about the right price . Out of tongue and cheek I asked would you accept 30 oz's of gold and $5k in cash = around $70 odd k . Man , the guys eyes lit up and said shit yeah , I am worried what the extra cash in my account will do to my part pension .
I don't need a Winnebago right now but the reality is your precious metals are probably worth 50 to 60% more than cash . Would be interested if you learned folk think along those lines or have similar experiences in what way your shiny wealth can express its true value.
