The concept of short selling does not make sense to me.
Borrowing stock, selling it and then making a profit if the price falls. Well if you borrow enough stock and sell it is seems only natural the price is highly likley to fall.
This sems to be what the hedge funds have been doing, as they have such a huge amount of money to influence things.
