I'm not condemning private schools Lapdog, but as with most closed shops a kind of thuggery develops which must be revisited by change management at regular intervals.

Private schools have been a whipping boy for the great unwashed for generations. Even I disrespectfully like to tongue in cheek a response to bragging old school ties that they must have needed all the private help they could get to compete with the rest of the public school population.

It's somewhat our fault they we isolate these schools by branding them as elitist, cloistered and spoiled, because it actually implies they are accepted to be self determining, self governing and a nursery for future leaders. We create the vacuum and invariably it gets filled with very things that are being lampooned.

It's fairly naive to think that predators wouldn't be attracted to a camp that is full of impressionable minds, public and private. It's the practical policing of all levels that needs constant independent auditing.

As an ex principal you would know that teachers are targetted by students with fabricated accusations of sexual misconduct; even using social media to spread the lie. That is another area that needs some urgent attention for the sake of teachers and the legitimate student victims.
