http://www.asx.com.au/data/shortsell.txt - you can't say there's no transparency on shorting. It is my understanding that the problem is only partly transparency (since anonymity is part of the market), instead the problem was that excessive shorting results in instability, and that's not acceptable in these troubled economic times.
