Because it would not be sufficient to just present evidence that the Russians interfered in the election; they would have to PROVE that said interference caused Trump to win rather than Clinton. That is not so clear cut.
If they failed to prove the ONLY reason Trump won was due to the Russian interference, then the case would be thrown out.
