    Volt, I guess the fact that BHP's price hasn't been battered anywhere near as much as other bluechips, notably the banks, shows its resiliance.

    Maybe 30% down since May is it. I don't think any of us can say for sure in this volatile environment.

    And of course, fundamentals mean nothing when there's panic in the streets.... But sound fundamentals do ensure a company's survival through that panic.

    Fundamentally, BHP is an almighty stock. Short-term it provides good trades, and long-term for those who keep their certificates in the bottom draw, it should be a worthy investment.

    The state of the US should be more of a concern to Japan than it is for China and BHP.
