I will give you a different perspective. As reported on the ABC last night medical authorities in Aus believe the mortality rate is roughly 1%. That is because they believe that the numbers of people who have had the virus is probably much higher than the stats show. While this might be say 5x as high as a bad flu season - it is nothing like Sara or Mers which an order of magnitude more lethal. Having said that 5x is a lot of people - you are right. As to the response in say Japan - it’s right to react strongly as we are still unsure as to what we are dealing with. It may be an over reaction to close schools - but we cannot know what we don’t know. So the response to Corona virus is proper Lets see what happens.
