This may have something to do with either: 1) the Chapter 11 comments that you mentioned earlier on in the day; 2) Cheung Kong's control of CitiPower leading through into DownTown Utilities, etc (obvious conenctions to Hutchison Whampoa, Hong Kong Telecom, Hong Kong Electric, Asia Global Crossing, etc); 3) yesterday's euphoria concerning the growth in broadband uptake (per Telstra); or 4) Peter Shore's appointment as a Director of UeComm.
Peter is also Chairman of IP1, and a Director of Unwired Australia, as well as being a Director of Hostworks.
It may be that consolidation amongst the Tier 3 players (long since mooted) may be about to re-emerge on the telecommunications landscape - UEC, IP1 /AMM, PWT, MAQ, etc - all of which have inter-linked working arrangements, or other associated industry linkages (whether through UtiliTel, etc).
