There is a saying "Sell Rosh Hashanah and buy Yom Kippur", which implies the holidays are a negative time generally.
I have gone back and looked at every period since the 1920's and I really don't see any convincing evidence that it is all that bearish. Perhaps a slight bearish bias.
Funny thing I have seen the saying quoted inversely as buy then sell, lol.
