However, if the Latrobe group is composed of an impervious rock, such as clay, containing sand members, then the clay could act a barrier to downsward movement of water and upward movement of gas. This, as I understand it, is the principle behind oil reservoirs. The press release does not state the composition of the rock between the sand layers but so it's not really possible to comment on the potential of the lower sand members. But, sadly, it's hard to be too optimistic at this time.
