what I think is that the money makers need a reason to push the market in one direction or the other in order to make money. Virus, elections, trade wars etc etc.. there will always be a reason regardless of what you and I will do.

in 2017 there was 229,000 influenza cases in Australia with 1255 deaths so if thats the case your scenario isn’t as bad as it seems
