@MarsCNot sure if you saw in the news that DAZN are implementing a global push for their OTT sports platform.
In NZ and Aussie the initial offering will just be boxing. But they do stream other tier 1 sport in other jurisdictions, and if things go well for them in NZ and Aus they are highly likely to join the bidding when other sporting codes come up.
DAZN are owned by Access Industries. Access Industries own a range of assets, including a broadcaster/aggregatror in Israel.
For some time now it has surprised me that nobody has come forward with a takeover offer for Sky. The rights held alone over the next 5 years is far in excess of the market cap. It made me wonder if a company like DAZN would be better off attempting a takeover of Sky. Reaosoning being:
1. With the SP being so low, they would have their best chance of getting the company for a much lower price than they would normally have to pay
2. They would enter the NZ market with close to 1 million subs right away
3. RugbyPass comes with the deal, automatically expanding their global reach for tier 1 rugby
4. They would be eliminating a competitor for Sports rights, making future bidding easier
What are your thoughts? If such a takoever were ever to happen, how much do you think someone would realistically need to pay to buy the whole company?
