Always sleep on it. i.e never be rushed into making a decision.

If you can't change a tyre, check the oil and water and tyres you're not ready to have a driver's licence (applied to sons and daughters). This training has stayed with me all my life and I watch temp guages and other engine lights like a hawk when operating vehicles and machinery.
Pay off your house as soon as possible. He was right into maximising repayments decades before the investment gurus started spruiking this advice.
