Sorry parsifal, got distracted,

Sheep drink less when they are shorn because they don't need to focus on staying cool,

With a full fleece on they drink more to keep cool,

A bit like us really, in winter, we can layer clothes on to stay warm, but in summer we can only take of enough clothes to stay cool,
