Mention is made about BHP being in a bearish downtrend---as though the rest of the market is rising like a souffle.
BHP has been in an UPTREND since 2003, and that trendline remains in tact--until, and if, it is broken, as Robbb correctly reminds us.
The retracement from the May 2008 peak has been almost 50%, which has happened limited times before, most notably early in the uptrend
