Also no need to get defensive. The broader market has wiped out many peoples hopes. But stop the press, the bulls have been given new hope as the NY Fed opened an unprecedented money spigot making $1.5 trillion in loans available over two short days and that's on top of the US$198 billion they piled into the short term money market the day before and the $650 billion already lent to that market since it started failing in Sept last year when overnight loan rates started spiking to 10% because JP Morgan with its self proclaimed "fortress balance sheet" unexpectedly came begging at the discount window. But hey everything is good again now, nice green to be seen on the futures, everyone relax because you see our big fat finger is always there on the button of the money printing machine to keep the bubble markets inflated. The reality IMO is that the Fed is actually fighting a fight for its own existence now. If the banks were allowed to truly fail as they would without the Fed's constant bailouts the Federal Reserve bank would also fail as an institution. The printing press is all that stands between them an their own demise.
