I'm not sure what you mean by the short term? I would suspect that we will get a maiden dividend sometime within the next 18 months. That is just a guess though - don't hold me to it.
As for product development. The company have quite a bit of development already going on. Fortunately, it doesn't cost huge amounts and is being easily funded out of cashflow. It certainly won't have a material impact upon the arrival of dividends.
I can't really see them buying out a "cheap biotech company" - they already are a "cheap biotech company"
Their patents have a lot more than a "few more years to go". The patent for their main product (In-Tube) will protect them to AT LEAST 2023.
