Who says the assets are worth 2.5bn ?

Noone is arguing over how big the debt is - thats the nice safe thing about debt - noone argues about how much you owe - well in BNBs case maybe teir is argument about how big the debt is.

Didnt CBA just buy bankwest? Im sure that in the Equity column of Bankwest there was ALOT more than 2.1bn - I cant remember the figure but I believe their assets were written down to something like 8c in the dollar? I heard that number third hand so its likely to be wrong - but shows how much value their assets was really worth - you find that out when you REALLY need to sell something.

I bought BNB @ 0.74 as a casino stock - meaning I effectively put some money on "26 red" - because I have no idea whatsoever of its value now, in the past or in the future. What I do believe, is that if it miraculously survives, and there is any truth to its balance sheet - then the upside could be huge. But I wont fool myself on this one. Both CNP and BNB purchases have in my case been utter speculation, not investments.
