I've just listened to the ABC podcast. Let's repeat here what Sharon actually said about the research at the Doherty, and my interpretation of what it means. When asked by the interviewer of treatments, considering that Vaccines are a very long way off, she replied. Underlined mine

"Yea, we havn't spoken a lot in the public about treatments, and I think they may play a very important role while waiting for a vaccine ....... vaccines can take potentially 12-18 months......... but I just want to talk about treatments for a minute. So at the moment we don't have any specific treatment for the virus. People get better on their own, or get better because they receive supportive care in hospital. But if we had a treatment, an anti-viral drug that blocked viral replication of the virus, it could potentially do two things: it could potentially improve outcome where people don't get so sick, or don't die; and also reduce transmission. Most viral transmission is caused by how much virus you have on board. We know lots about that particularly from HIV. And just recently we've become aware of an anti-arthritus drug................ that it definitely reduces virus amounts in someones swab ....... so one thing we might see see in the not so distant future is a a lot of understanding about viral drugs that block replication and that could outcomes for clinical outcomes and how infectious you are. I'm a little optimistic about that ..... vaccines" etc

I'm amazed by all the comments above, and no one has referred to this (if I'm not wrong).

This is exactly what Biotron's compounds do. It is their unique mode of action, whereas all other antivirals and vaccines for Coronaviruses (and most others) work by interacting with the S (spike) protein that is the attachment and infusion mechanism into host cells.

Contrarily, Bioton's compounds, including BIT225 (but do not read this as BIT225 is necessarily the solution to COVID-19) do not work on the S Protein, but the E Protein where replication occurs. Specifically, it interrupts ion channeling activity of viroporins, which is part of the central mechanism of viral replication in all RNA viruses.

As such, to even think that Sharon in not referring to Biotron in this presentation is more than stupid. But why we are even discussing this when we know that Biotron is working at the Doherty testing their compounds on SARS-CoV-2, is beyond me.

Her comments about how much they know about viral transmission and the amount of virus a person has on board and what they know about that in regard to HIV, also indicates to me that Bioton's compounds are the central focus.

She does go on to mention about the very recent learning about the arthritis drug that also is inhibits viral replication, only goes to vindicate further Biotron's work.

If you want to research further, learn what that arthritis drug is and see how it works.

Therefore, my sentiment is buy, buy, buy (as stated on the required HC sentiment window, as it has always been in every post).
