The way the presentation is recorded is one factor but it also may depend on your computer.
A while ago I invested in some headphones you plug into the side of your computer, and I use them all the time now.
Get a good quality one though, mine automatically adjusts the sound down to avoid your ears getting a blast if you get the settings wrong.
