Go to any fitness equipment supplier and look at the lineups. Ask people what they are buying and how much they are spending. Ask the suppliers about their sales in the last 2 weeks. The problem isn't people being worried about safety or the cost of membership after a layoff, it's quantifying how many people will no longer need it.
