A gold standard would be nice, even sensible as it would prevent the printing of money...and that is precisely the reason they will not go back onto a Gold standard, they are more likely to use SDR's and perhaps some form of universal digital currency linked to them.
There will be a place for Gold though and it will be much higher than it is today.
