I think people have not only lost faith in the markets but most definitely in the policy makers that allowed this to happen as well.

They have no faith in Gov't actions and will not respond until they see physical evidence that Gov't initiatives are actually working. That's sometime off still.

A lot of market investors have grossly underestimated the seriousness of the off market situation, choosing instead to hang on tightly to their beloved stocks and now they are sadly being punished for not reacting sooner.
