so Deor was responsible for the ‘all things must pass’ notion .
..and I always thought ‘Ye’ as in ye olde... meant ‘your’.

as to Deor ... I looked him/her up and found a Wikipedia site ( ......Egad! What if the next thing is them taking the internet away from us?).


...The poem stars a hero called Weland.
This instantly reminded me of the preposterous and yet long-predicted global contretemps we landed in where nothing much makes sense..

...and reading further the tale becomes even more relevant!
...note;
...... “John Miles Foley has hypothesized that the apparent murkiness of "Deor" is also in no small part attributable to the obscurity of the poet's references. As he puts it, "Cut off from its traditional background, 'Deor' makes little sense"....
And
.... “The poem "Deor" is a lament by its author about his exile from his life of luxury, respect, and popularity.....”

and the conclusion, as you say;
“That went away, this also may.”.


......And everything is relative ...
As a ‘what puts things into perspective for me ’ aside, I live daily with gratitude one of my children who suffered severe adolescent depression, is now well and thriving after six frozen years of intense relationship with pain and the testing of destiny.
...One hospital I would visit her in was down a highway where someone had placed a large outward facing sign against a high window of a two storey building.
It said that .
....“This too shall pass”



As always I hope all are well and finding much to celebrate despite the times, and finding courage to persevere if they are deeply in ‘the times’.
