Gold has a certain allure for some people. It is an ornament that is all. I think even its allure might be wearing thin. You don't see or hear many twenty something if today aspiring to wear a gold watch or chunky gold chain. They are more inclined to be a proud owner of the latest high-tec wearable device.
Gold needs an industry demand to help keep it relevant. It needs a high-tech device that is dependant on gold for crtitical components and is in high volume demand. Without an industrial driving force gold will eventually lose its reason for being. I can see mass gold mine closures in a decade or two unless that new demand is uncovered.
