The futhur time goes out the wider the range between the angles and thus the additional volatility and range you get when prices move higher are factored in by the use of angles.

In market theory, the present moves are built of previous moves and thus you can only use a linear chart.

However if you want to use trendlines then long term you need to use a semi-log chart.
