We have had these discussions before of course and all sorts of other factors come up.
Why should growth rates be log or semi log if you like. Hard to imagine a log date scale although I suppose Fib time is something in that mode.
What about a constant dollar price or based on what exchange rate and interest rates and taxation rates and etc.
I can see no great reason why semi log charting should be any more valid than any other scaling.
We have done long term $US adjusted charts which looked good for a while.
Some price in gold even.
As you mention, it is what works till it doesn't often times.
