It's important to remember that Coles only run the pubs so they can continue to run the bottle shops. Running the pubs gives them a licence to run over 200 bottle shops within a legislated radius of the pubs not just the bottle shops in the pubs themselves. In my opinion, the rents paid to run the pubs are a relatively small investment which allows them to make much more money from the bottle shops. If they were to breach their leases they would lose a huge amount of bottle ship revenue. Can't see this happening.
