OK, but without putting too laborious a morality upon it, I still think it was not "wrong," (a downgrading, incidentally, from your earlier "brutal") because
a) they (?) don't know what the "westerners" think about mutilating corpses -after all, they (Westerners) laughed, jeered and had a great party when the metal carcass of their leader (SH) was mutilated in the streets of Baghdad.
b) they didn't care what the Westerners thought about such acts or how the western media would react. It would react predictably feigning abhorence.
and
c) They, the Iraqis, WERE brutalised (ie, lost their normal character and became wild brutes, acting on passion rather than mind)
