How about the first home owners grant only being handed out if a 20% deposit for the property is paid, not as part of a 5% deposit? Force people to save for a home.
How about restricting the grant to homes 4 bedrooms or less rather than for 6 bedroom 4 bathroom homes that young people crave but cannot afford?
How about resticting the grant to homes less than the mean property price for the town or city, this will stop people over-reaching for their 1st home?
