My sister is one of the 16,000, and wrestled with the decision to go or not, ultimately deciding to go. She weighed up the risk of being stuck overseas, and had made arrangements to spend 14 days of self isolation if she was able to return. My sister lives by herself and her only child lives overseas, so this was a long planed trip to see her daughter. If my sister is locked up by the government for 14 days in a hotel room, it would be harder emotionally than self isolating in your own home for 14 days. You could try and get the hotel and associated costs from my sister, but it is unlikely to be that easy when she is worried she won't have the money to pay for the extra two weeks in airport parking. Always easier to dehumanize to justify attacking people.

She should have abided by the Governments direction - I can't see too much sympathy being given, they made the choice to go against the direction not to travel, they should foot the bill, and I believe people are justified in seeing it that way
