Don't get too optimistic. Working in a test tube is a very different thing to working in a human body. In the body, there are all sorts of other chemicals floating around that can aid or interfere with a drug. And the article even hints that the doses they used in the test tube were much higher than normally taken by humans. If higher levels are required to attack the virus, then a full set of human safety trials would be needed as well as effectiveness trials. Say about 12-18 months......
