CFO was leaving anyway, just brought forward, probably has a new job lined up.
Carlye would have wanted him there until the transaction was completed, just makes life easier for them.
If anything I would say this casts further doubt on the transaction proceeding IMO.
I've been in companies where takeovers have happened & key staff were paid considerable bonuses to stay in their postions until it was completed even though their jobs were dissapearing.
CFO along with CEO/COO are the two most key employees in a takeover.
