I'm not saying plan for a pandemic, I'm saying plan for having a period where you don't have a tenant. For a long term investment like real estate, that is more than reasonable.
And let me guess, you don't have anything to redraw, because you were making the bare minimum repayments so you could claim a tax loss? That's not fault of the government, or the bank, or the taxpayer. It's your fault for taking a risky strategy and assuming 'she'll be right' for 30 years to come.
