The principle in law is assumed innocent until proven guilty. The High Court found Pell not crimianlly Guilty and therefore released him from his sentence. Some assume that this was a carte blanche declaration of innocence.
There is a reasonable case that he may be found guilty in a Civil Court and he and the Church may subject to onerous financial penalties. This from memory has happened in other jurisdictions
