You do realise that's what governments, et al, are doing? Determining the cost and resource requirements of maintaining ICU patients compared to the cost of treatment..?
If treatment was $1M per patient, rather than $15k, for argument's sake, do you not think that the cost of saving a life becomes uneconomical?
