hi fone, 40's 59 lol. went into business with dad at age 7. took the reins at 11 when he was very ill. learnt heaps and should be rolling in it but i'm not the big risk taker. nor, believe it or not, does lots of money interest me.

learnt some mid 60's when things were bad and saw what my pa was going thro. learnt heaps 72-4. then i used up every bit of cash investing i had, and my girls too. avoided 87, now, and late 90's. 9/11 got me but then i was online live to sydney mkt and spent 2 days 24/7 switching for the return to normality. my best ever yr by far followed. this yr my lil portfolio is up over 50% v the all ords. but it was a two share thing for ages. imf in oz and ebo in nz.

but don't think i'm infallible. many times wrong. many many.

i learnt one thing and that was to stay alive. helps in downs but not in ups. but i'm not afraid to enter when i feel the time is ripe. bought tel in nz today. slowly accumulating. the big guns (my bond portfolio) will be released once we stabilise. and then only after a 10% rise from the bottom, once it's held well.

i love this game but prefer the turf.

i'll be buying gold mon (dub will be pleased lol). not sure how yet but likely a mix of share/s and GOLD asx. i'm ultimately gbp based so will assess the currency risk there first. may use my uk broker and buy in sth africa. need to study first. i'll not charge in but likely accumulate. i'll work to a % per the overall valuation of my portfolio. at one time yrs ago i was nearly 20% but it was a bad move. went to zero after 9/11. the gold held up very well(normandy mining) so i moved into a weak mkt for stocks. great turns for me then.

i'll keep trying.
