Every country should decide how best to meet this challenge.

Some poorer countries might choose "Herd Immunity" as they have few choices. That's up to them.

We are a richer country. We are also an island, surrounded by water.

This fortunate geographical location means we are in a position to isolate our island from the world.

IMHO, we can go a step further by aiming to overcome this virus, rather than just slow its spread.

And once achieved, we can demand all arrivals and returnees stay in quarantine for 14 days before being allowed outside the general public.

We can still conduct trades and business with the world as usual, but our tourist industry will suffer a year or more. They will need our financial support.

IMHO, I think we manage this until either an effective drug is discovered or a vaccine is discovered.
