Fair enough , but what if those securities drop another 50%? , not particularly good 'investing' then is it ?. These are differing times than 'normal' washouts , too be cautious may be better a investment.. Remember , he is recieving imncome of Bonds , so add that to a drop , and it compounds the loss...
