We have one of the world's greatest ventilator companies, with a large manufacturing plant in Sydney: ResMed. Famous for its home-use sleep apnoea machines, ResMed also produces hospital grade ventilators. One for ICU invasive ventilation and the other for less urgent non-invasive ventilation.The non-invasive ventilators provide oxygen via a mask for less critically ill patients and to patients being weaned off invasive ventilation. However, in an emergency, a non-invasive ventilator can be used at the physician's discretion for invasive ventilation of some patients.Both are approved by Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration.
