“Close off the mind and live life with one eye closed”
This is why religion is failing because is run by people who have had their faiths pounded into them at birth and live life based on an ideal rather than experience. The fact is their afraid of what’s in the world because they don’t understand it. So instead, they shelter themselves and others and proclaim that they live a life of purity. If there is a "God" out there in some form, who created all we see before us, then I think he would like us to make our own decisions what we experience and judge for ourselves how to live our life, not have our judgement forced upon us.
How about showing the kids the real world in time, and informed by wisdom. Help them to understand, from the outset, that some things aren't appropriate for them yet, but will be in time. Expose them to the internet and outside world but supervise them don’t cut them off. Gradually give them more and more latitude as they demonstrate their own wisdom, with the goal of producing well-formed, free-thinking, independent adults. In the end, if they choose to marry outside their “church” or look at a website that you deem inappropriate after the guidance you have provided then that’s their choice not yours.
