Don't read too much into the unemployment stats that came out yesterday for two reasons:
1) The ABS runs the survey mid month and looks back two weeks so the March unemployment statistics are based of a sample that covers 1 March to 14 March, which is before the full lock down and travel restrictions came into place. That's one of the reasons why April was always going to be more of an indicator.
2) ABS has announced that any person who is getting the jobkeeper payment, even if they don't work a single hour in the month, is considered employed when calculating the unemployment numbers.
