Having a quiet afternoon in ISO & thought I would watch this documentary I came across on the possible origin of COVID-19 in China. A scientist there has been studying bat derived Corona Viruses for years & publishing papers. It really is interesting & very plausible, with a P4 Lab located in the vicinity:
I was in 2 minds posting this, as I adore my Chinese friends & colleagues who are highly professional & caring people, who spend long hours & go above & beyond for the greater good of human health & wellbeing, many of them now treating patients frontline here in Australia for COVID-19. The last thing you want to see is directed hatred & racism towards people undeservedly due to their country of origin & no ties to idealism.
If this video is true, in the sense that COVID-19 may have been deliberately or accidentally leaked as a human developed bio-weapon & covered up, I will be very upset, that’s just pure evil using medical science for something like that & goes against every grain of decency & oath taken to become a Professional in this field.
The most accurate information China can provide will be helpful. I was suspicious initially, but they seemed to be communicating everything to WHO, but there is a big question mark over that now too.
What’s done is done now, whether there is truth in this or not. Many are dead. All we can do now is move forward to treat people & stop the spread.
Something concerning & mentioned in the video is cross infection between animals & humans. Whether it is Zoonotic (able to be spread directly from animals to humans, is another issue).
A Zoo Keeper at a NY Zoo had sadly unknowingly infected their big cats including a Tiger, who swabbed positive & multiple big cats displaying cat flu symptoms, including wheezing, Lions as well (so that’s pretty bad) who had been in contact with the infected Zoo Keeper.
To do a procedure like swabbing in a big cat, that requires a General Anaesthetic or very heavy sedation for safety (some humans may need this too), so when when the tiger tested tested positive, the vets knew why all the Big pussycats who where coughing & sneezing & wheezing most likely had COVID-19 & not to put them through the risk of a GA. It’s not pretty, but looks like they all will recover:
So there is a question mark regarding pets as well, as corona viruses are nothing new in infection of dogs & cats either. I haven’t had time to look at the Veterinary side of things, but I’m interested, particularly after reading the Zoo Story. GLTAH
