Most posts I have read on HC screaming the urgency to get the country back to work, loosen restrictions, disbelieve the science, cop it on the chin, die if we must, stay well apart but at least now in my favourite cafe, my wife's hair is too long, etc, has sounded like the drowning gargle of a financially-strapped individual looking after nobody's interests but their own. For the financial burden, I sympathise.

The cries for rational thinking nearly always get prettied up with an apparent deep caring about people who might commit suicide after having had to play Final Fantasy for 8 weeks straight (as if the Italians or the Spanish have been killing themselves faster than Covid-19 because they got lonely and claustrophobic), etc, how Australians will literally starve to death if they aren't able to get out there working, etc, how it's no worse than the flu and that we don't remove all cars from the Road when a single person breaks a fingernail in an accident, etc. But really it's just a personal vent of fury against a policy designed to help everyone, but which might be hitting their hip pocket.

It's hard to be sympathetic with people who say 'go back to work, a few extra might die but at least I'll be able to make money again'.

In any event, you have been thrown a bone by the Powers that be this week, possibly a mild opening up if (among other things) you download an app that tracks your interactions. Apparently Singapore's take-up rate is 20%. Given what I know of Singaporeans, I can't fathom that Australia would be able to reach double. Still, maybe your demands will be met.
