I am no mining Guru but I believe this has 2 positives. 1. for Myanmar and the local population and 2. for MYL
1.
It provides jobs for the local community and get's to show positives of this project albeit only a small potion thereof. 5% only and minds will be working overtime as to how much more benefit could come from the other 95%. Local expertise utilized to highlight efficiency when called upon.
2. For us it allows us to not only prepare by taking the oxide ore for future work but also cements in community engagement practices that will invariably be paramount to the success of this massive operation.
I see it as an example of how things should and could be done in a different cultural setting for the benefit of all concerned. The world will be watching and learning
