Dar Es Salaam to European Mediterranean Ports via Suez is shorter than Lobito to those ports, however Suez Canal costs will have to be offset against ship's fuel saving plus rail transport costs difference.
It totally depends what the final destination is.
But being able to have 2 routes is a great bonus in case one option not available for whatever reason.
