"Westpac appears to be increasingly pessimistic, and said it was "increasing the weighting applied to the downside scenario, reflecting a higher probability that economic conditions would deteriorate even further".
- $2.2 billion — with most of it ($1.6b) due to an expected surge in coronavirus "new defaults", and
- $1.4 billion (flagged two weeks ago), most of which relates to its penalty for the AUSTRAC money laundering scandal.
